What you'll accomplish

You'll create an AI-powered onboarding knowledge base that answers the 20–30 most common questions new operations team members ask — saving senior staff from repeatedly answering the same questions and helping new hires get productive faster.

What you'll need

  • A Claude Pro account at claude.ai ($20/month for Projects with file uploads)
  • 30 minutes with a senior team member or your own memory of common new-hire questions
  • 3–5 key procedure documents: account opening, trade settlement, NIGO process, wire processing basics, compliance overview
  • Time needed: 1 hour to build; ongoing self-service use
  • Cost: $20/month (Claude Pro)

How-To Guide: Build a New-Hire Operations Onboarding Assistant

Step 1: Collect your most common new-hire questions

Before building, write down the questions you've been asked most often by new team members. Common examples:

  • "What happens when a trade fails to settle?"
  • "When do I need to involve compliance vs. handling it myself?"
  • "What's the difference between a DTC transfer and an ACATS transfer?"
  • "What does NIGO mean and what do I do with a NIGO item?"
  • "How long do most processes take? What are the deadlines?"

Aim for 15–25 questions. You'll use these to test your assistant.
